WHO ARE WE ?
Created in 2019, the association "ATOKÉ - Les enfants de Saint Dominique" aims to help the children of the Saint Dominique orphanage located in the village of Azowlissé in the Ouémé region of Benin.
In September 2018, friends take us to the heart of the Ouémé valley, 2h30 from Cotonou, where there is an orphanage in difficulty. When we arrive, we find children with broad smiles, but we quickly realize that most of them are sick, suffering from malaria and severe malnutrition. The means are weak, the infrastructure dilapidated and unsanitary. We then make the decision to help the sister in charge of the establishment directly, the first times on an ad hoc basis during our visits, but this is not the solution. We then decide to set up a more structured and weekly formula that we can frame and follow thanks to the collaboration of the sisters and a team that we form on site. Our association “ATOKÉ - The children of Saint Dominic” was born.
